Julie Jennings Walks to Help Find a Cure

My mission is to train for and complete a full marathon while raising money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Dear Friends & Family,
I think I’ve truly gone crazy, I have just started training to walk the Suzuki Rock ‘n Roll Marathon in San Diego on June 6, 2004. Yes I know I laughed at first also, how is Julie Jennings going to walk 26.2 miles? Well I’ve found an incredible organization called Team in Training to help along the way. All the participants train together while raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
As you may or may not know I am starting Nursing School this July. I look forward to starting a career and life commitment to helping others. The marathon will be this June and one of my first big personal challenges before the start of Nursing School and into an independent adult life.
In the picture section you will meet Joshua Reynolds. I’ve had the pleasure to meet and befriend this amazing child. On April 4, 2001 Joshua was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. After two years of intense chemotherapy, Joshua will be celebrating one year of remission this April. He and his mother are already planning to take a birthday cake to the oncology staff that helped Joshua through his battle.
Joshua is just one of my seven Honored Heroes. The Honored Heroes are astounding people who have all been diagnosed with a blood related cancer. They are the people who give me the inspiration and motivation to complete this journey. The challenges I will be facing during training are nothing compared to the challenges that these Honored Heroes face every day. Joshua, all my other honored heroes, and their families appreciate what Team in Training does to help, and they especially thank all the selfless people that help to find a cure for blood related cancers.
I am writing you now to ask for your financial support. Over 75% of my personal goal of $3500 goes directly to The Society for research, patient services, advocacy, and education. All donations help, no matter how big or small.
Thank you in advance for your support. I can’t wait to keep you all updated on my progress and the advances being made in The Society. Please contact me with any questions or comments. And thanks for helping me to cross the finish line, and helping to find a cure for cancer.
Love you all,
Julie Jennings
